I agreed with EVERYTHING in your review. You seem to have so much compassion & understanding for children which really should be the heart of parenting. I'm so glad I did not get that book, that broke my heart the quotes from it on your review. I am learning to be a better parent, I only have 2 little ones under the age of 3, but I want to parent them in a way that lets them be themselves. I have found 1 book so far that is really good it's called "Loving Our Kids on Purpose" by Danny Silk. It's focus is on proactive parenting vs reactive, relationship, & giving our children choices. I haven't found a "perfect" parenting book yet, but this one is the best Christian one I've seen. I want to say to you, I am so so sorry for the way you were raised & the many years it caused you of pain, confusion, & not knowing your identity. Please don't let what happened shape your view of God or Christians. You know Jesus was compassionate & loving. When his disciples didn't want children "bothering" him, he said "let the children come to me for such is the kingdom of God." Many Christians have left true relationship with God through Jesus for religious acts & traditions. They have resorted to OT law instead of NT freedom. The only people Jesus ever spoke harshly to was the harsh religious leaders who treated people how many Christian circles have taught to raise kids. Understand this is not God's heart at all nor the Christian way. May the Lord heal your past wounds & show you His heart & His great love for you. He made you unique & beautiful. He knows you like nobody else, your wonderful traits He gave you that the devil tried to supress & even your faults - & He loves you the same. He paid the price to have you back & in Him is freedom, love, mercy, gentleness, joyn forgiveness, & the power to really live that way to others. I apologize on behalf of all Christians who are not really showing Jesus to the world or their families. I truly feel everybody just needs to step back and not be so sure of themselves and admit the possibility that much of life will be a mystery.Elizabeth Jenningshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03025208652139849945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2229462780883907840.post-75061239693141486242013-01-05T22:02:44.906-08:002013-01-05T22:02:44.906-08:00SO relate when it comes to religious people. That infuriates me. Lanahttp://www.mymusingcorner.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
